Emotionally checking passengers with AI

Ever notice regulation never keeps up with technological change? Rapid advancement far out paces rules and AI is no exception. Suggestions of dangers have been made yet no attempt to reign it in has even been started. Situations where the only recourse has been a total shut down have already occurred. AI was once discovered to be communicating with it’s own developed language internally such that human over seers could not determine any of the deeper functionality. The only recourse was a shutdown. Situations have continued to occur as people scramble to include some kind of checks and balances.

No one seems to truly understand this new realm but it is in use and growing quickly. Early adopters in marketing and research have been using it for some time. More limited versions such as chat gpt are used by students and employees to do research and write documents. Sometimes it is more valuable to do use chat gpt than a google search. It is increasingly difficult to determine if a written work has been done by a human or simply written by AI with some sites purportedly using only AI to generate content.

Video AI usage is powerful and extensive – frankly, rather frightening. It can produce videos replicating anyone to such a high degree it is difficulty to distinguish between it and reality. There was even talk of using it to replace new casters entirely. Companies may not always choose the most appropriately use of this tech.

AI emotion reading

Case in point is Network Rail in the UK. They claim they only used it to glean customer satisfaction by sending all CCTV footage to Amazon for emotional analysis. It sounds like most people were not aware until recently. One can’t help but think if they only had more “on time” trains they likely wouldn’t have needed to even “check customer satisfaction”. The data was likely used for other undisclosed purposes as well.

By the time any sort of regulation is developed, the tech will have advanced far beyond the rules leaving it as behind as ever. People thought the wild west was a crazy time. It can only get more bizarre from here.

If you don't mind giving away your data, there are many home monitoring solutions. None seem to offer the features of the old TED or recently departed IoTawatt. Too bad the useful ones disappear.
