By now it should be obvious to every Canadian what Trudeau really meant with his “resignation” speech. If it wasn’t obvious up front, it should have been. “I will…” is not immediate nor much different than any other political promise ever made. Many have already caught up to the reality, but some remain confused.
This was nothing more than a crafty way of extending office long enough for his cronies to receive full benefits while actually helping his party regain ground. Even his own party doesn’t want him around anymore, but this gives them opportunity to set up a new spin and face before any election occurs. This may actually help them succeed yet again. In the end, the Liberal party benefits and the current PM is allowed to run amok for much longer than he should.
Any celebrations of his announcement were premature to say the least. He has secured more time to ensure greater damage to the country while giving his party time to set up a new strategy. The ugly truth is that no matter who gains control, it will take more than 8 years to swing Canada’s economy back in any significant amount. Given the astronomical hurdle left for a new government to climb, it is safe to say this was a well planned strategic move. Four years will not be long enough to show the progress Canadian’s want to see which risks going right back to the current style of governance.
The masterminds behind this plot know exactly what they are doing. Nothing changes in the short run and the risk to nothing changing in the future has now only become greater. The benefactors are those MPs waiting for their full pensions and the Liberal party itself.
