Friendly Manitoba??

Friendly Manitoba?

Posted on October 4, 2025 by Analyst

Manitoba has no less than 25 different vehicle licence plates available. Twenty two of those are some form of “support” or propaganda. It truly is the land of confusion when it comes to vehicle plates but their politics pretty much mirrors this insanity.

Back in1976, Manitoba adopted the phrase “Friendly Manitoba” for their plates. It is high time they reconsidered this. Manitoban drivers are not know to be friendly. In fact, between flipping the bird, leaning on the horn, cutting you off, and blocking the left lane of any two lane highway they can find, they fall very short of friendly.

I would recommend the phrase “Propaganda Manitoba” as it seems well suited to the endless references to certain groups of people or issues. Perhaps even some acknowledgement on the endless vacant road construction zones full of pylons and signs would work too. Either way, forget friendly and having said that, I am sure there are plenty of Manitobans cursing out me and this article. Have a nice day anyway, guys.

If you don't mind giving away your data, there are many home monitoring solutions. None seem to offer the features of the old TED or recently departed IoTawatt. Too bad the useful ones disappear.
